Manufacturing & Quality Control

Manufacturing and Processing

In our expansive manufacturing facility spanning 4 million square feet, we produce high-quality fabric from yarns, craft a wide range of handle and umbrella parts from plastic granules, perform wire drawing for umbrella ribs, and manufacture various types of springs used in umbrellas.

At our facility, we actively produce the nails used in the precise assembly of our products. And for final packaging we have our own in-house corrugation unit to make corrugated boxes. It allows us to offer this to the customers at extremely reasonable costs, which gives us an edge in the market.

When it comes to manufacturing, we follow backward integration for our entire range of active gear, which includes rain gear (umbrellas and raincoats for men, women and kids) and travel gear (luggage bags, duffle bags and gym bags for men and women).

The process of backward integration also helps us have control over the quality of raw materials and helps us have the raw materials on time without any delays or lags.

As a responsible umbrella and raincoat manufacturer in India, we also prioritize sustainable practices to minimize the environmental impact.

By internally producing segments of our supply chain, we are able to reduce costs, offer products to the customers at extremely reasonable costs, which gives us an edge in the market, and manufacture superior quality products that carry superior functionality, immaculate precision, meticulous attention to detail and user-friendliness.

Factory & Production

Growing bigger, as we march ahead.

We have world-class, state-of-the-art manufacturing units.

They are located in the states of West Bengal (Kolkata) and Gujarat (Surat and Umbergaon) while our regional offices are in Gujarat, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai.

Our total manufacturing facility spans around 4 million square feet.

The following process are carried out here:

  • INJECTION MOULDING
  • PLANTING
  • POWDER COATING
  • VACUUM COATING/METALIZING
  • CORRUGATION
  • WIRE DRAWING
  • CNC FOR TUBE MAKING
  • WATER JET LOOMS FOR FABRIC MANUFACTURING
  • DYEING FOR FABRICS
  • COATING UNIT FOR FABRICS

Quality

Our thirst for chasing excellence does not stop at manufacturing. We also ensure consistency in quality and functionality right till a product reaches customers and dealers. With years of expertise as a umbrella and raincoat manufacturer in India, Citizen continues to innovate and stay at the forefront of the industry.

Each manufacturing process follows innovative methodology and international standards to deliver superior products. With in-depth research and years of experience, we have an SOP established for all the activities carried out in the unit that helps us analyse and inspect the raw material as per the guidelines.

After production, each product is thoroughly checked for performance and appearance and only after a stringent quality check do products go for packing.

Here is a list of the tests that our fabrics are put through:
Breathability test
We measure the breathability of sample fabric through Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR).
Waterproof test
All fabrics undergo a pressure test and must withstand extreme water pressure, which is well above the levels required in the standards.
Spray testing
The spray test checks the quality of the hydrophobic treatment, which provides the water-repellent effect.
Dimensional stability test
At times, the fabric form may be distorted, twisted or get shortened in length and width. So, to get specific size garments, its dimensional stability test is carried out.
Tear strength test
This test is performed by applying a sudden force from the fixed distance on the fabric samples and measuring its tearing strength.
Seam seal test
All seams are sealed to test, which guarantees that the seam will be sealed, and therefore 100% waterproof.
Flammability test
The flame test is used to test the laminate flame resistance for variety of applications. Mainly, this test is done to reduce danger of injury and loss of life.
Colour fastness test
It means how much a colour can resist the changing of brightness and depth from outside factors. Mostly, it is tested for rubbing, laundering, light and perspiration.
Testing the end products
We test the end product for its fabric strength. The relevant garment is tested in minute detail in the tests
